I can’t believe YOU have let John McCain’s 5 point lead in the polls after the conventions practically evaporate. We only have a few weeks left until the election and Barack Obama CANNOT be allowed to win the Presidency! The very existance of the United States of American is at stake!

No, I’m not so adamant because I’m a racist. I’m adamant because I’m scared to death what a left wing Congress and a far left President will do to our country!

Let’s keep in mind what Alexander Hamilton described as the function of the federal government in 1788 at the Constitutional Ratifying Convention.

“The great leading objects of the federal government, in which revenue is concerned, are to maintain domestic peace, and provide for the common defense. In these are comprehended the regulation of commerce that is, the whole system of foreign intercourse; the support of armies and navies, and of the civil administration.”

Our founding fathers never envisioned that the federal government would become such a giant regulatory and burdensome government that it is today. The Preamble to the Constitution says the government can:

1. Establish justice (provide federal laws and courts)
2. Insure domestic tranquility (keep the peace)
3. Provide for the common defense (provide a diplomatic and military presence)
4. Promote the general welfare (establish a system of commerce)
5. Secure the blessings of liberty (protect individual liberty)

Now, I’m at odds with many of the domestic beliefs of most Democrats, such as gay marriage, extreme environmentalism, gun bans, liberal abortion rights, etc., etc. But, while I’m not happy with liberal policies of this nature, that isn’t what scares me.

What scares me relates to items 3 and 4 above.

What scares me is the proposed lack of necessary foreign policy and national defense. Obama and the Democrats want to degrade our national defense to the point of ineffectiveness. Obama and Congress have plans to cut military research and development leaving us a second rate world power. Obama wants to be buddy-buddy with countries and leaders who hate us. He thinks he can talk his way to peace with terrorists, Iran, Russia, North Korea and other increasingly hostile countries without having a strong military behind him. He thinks we don’t need the most technologically advanced military on the planet to protect us. He thinks he can talk rogue nations out of attaining nuclear weapons and from attacking their neighbors. He thinks allies like Israel are safe without our moral, if not military protection. He thinks rogue countries won’t, or can’t, use nukes on us. HE IS WRONG.

Just give Iran or well funded terrorists a nuclear weapon and with a readily available scud missile and a small sub (Iran already has these) or a medium sized ship we are a sitting target from international waters off our Atlantic coast. Just a single air-burst nuclear blast over our east coast would send half of America back to the horse and buggy era. Everything from cars to phones to electric power plants rely on micro-circuits that would all be FRIED. Nothing with an electrical component will work and it will take years (if we survive that long without food or defense) to repair the damage. Every year it gets easier for this scenario to play out.

We can’t count on our allies to come to our aid in the event of conflict. Our allies are relying upon us to protect them! Just look at France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Kuwait, and the list goes on. Look at the small contingents of troops those countries who could sent to Afghanistan or Iraq to help us fight for freedom. Nobody in the world has a capable military that can resist an emboldened Russia or a stronger China who is pouring assets into a revitalized military. We just can’t allow our military technical advantage to disappear if we are to remain safe.

What scares me is that Obama and the Democrats will bankrupt America. The Democrat Congress has already failed to protect our financial institutions from collapse. (Yes, that is the job of Congress to enact protective legislation and regulation.) They want to keep their free wheeling spending alive with earmarks (spending programs that are attached to a bill AFTER the bill has already been passed so there is no scrutiny); they DON’T want to fix Medicare and Social Security costs while they still can (it may already be too late to avoid the financial carnage coming in a decade or so from these to monoliths); they want to burden the taxpayer and small business with a grandiose government medical insurance plan (this will make the Medicare problem look like child’s play); they want small business and the wealthy (who create all the jobs, by the way) to take over the entire income tax burden and then pay even more for middle class tax rebates and handouts; they have even more Big-Government plans we can’t afford; and they want to force us to pay more for energy and unrealistic fuels (bio-fuel) in the belief that the next transportation and power generation technology is available but just hiding somewhere. The fact is, we can’t afford their plans for us. We can’t afford their gambles. With regard to green energy, the technology isn’t available yet. We need more oil before we can get there. We need OUR OWN oil to reduce as much as possible our reliance on other countries. WE NEED TO DRILL AND DRILL NOW!

What scares me, and this is a real killer, is that Obama and the Democrats have bought into Al Gore’s Man-made Global Warming alarm. They want to create a system of carbon rationing. Once you (or a country or a business) use your carbon (energy) allotment, you pay a hefty tax on future energy use. And where does this tax go? Mostly to other countries that use less energy. In effect, it is going to make the U.S. (as the largest energy user per capita) pay the rest of the world for our continued use of energy and to maintain our lifestyle.

Going down this path is not only dangerous for us but the very premise is flawed. First, there was some global warming late in the last century but it stopped in 1998. Second, there is ample evidence that it wasn’t CO2 that caused the warming but it was a change in radiation from the Sun and cosmic rays. Third, the Sun is now providing evidence that we may now be entering into a new period of global cooling not seen since the Maunder Minimum (mini-ice-age) of the middle ages. And, unlike global warming, a global cooling with devistate food crops with dire planetary human consequences.

You are probably thinking, how can I possibly be right on these topics and the Democrats and their advisers be so wrong? Well, for one thing, I am very well read in the areas I’ve discussed. I’ve read the literature and studies from both sides. I’ve looked at the interests and politics of the researches that might influence their fact finding and conclusions. I’ve tried to extrapolate the possible consequences from actions and in-actions. AND MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THESE POTENTIAL MISSTEPS SCARE THE HECK OUT OF ME! Under Obama and the Democrats we are about to Zig when we really need to Zag for the sake of our nation and the planet.

We cannot elect Obama and allow the Democrats to take us down these paths!
