- Biden Gaffes -
Joe Biden, the Democratic VP nominee, has made a series of misstatements that defy the imagination. Senator Biden has been in the Senate for 3 decades yet he makes errors of historical facts that happened while he was in office and says things that are completely untrue. I’m seriously wondering, is Joe Biden unbalanced?

I don’t think the Senator is trying to lie, I think he actually believes he is making truthful statements. The misstatements range from implying his helicopter was forced down by enemy fire in Afghanistan (actually a snow storm forced them down) to saying the U.S. and France pushed Hezbollah out of Lebanon.

I’ve never met Senator Biden personally, so I don’t know if such false statements are a regular part of his conversation or if he seems lucid in conversation. Regardless, I am very troubled that a person who should easily know these facts but has them confused and mixed up could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. For instance, what if he is in discussions with another head-of-state and loses track of what is the truth and what his mind has made up? That would be a disaster for America.

Sarah Palin has said some of Barack Obama lies, in her belief, would “disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief.” But Barack obviously structures his lies for maximum exposure to his current audience. Joe Biden seems to just not have a grasp of facts that he lived through. After all, he is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and should be very well versed in many of the facts he misstates.

Below is a quick list of the misstatements he made in just the VP debate last night. That just unbelievable for just one 90 minute period.

1. Biden said McCain voted to pass the bill that Obama voted for that would tax taxpayers earning as little as $42,000. McCain did not vote for that bill.

2. Biden said Obama never said he would meet with Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmedinijad without preconditions. In fact, Obama said in twice in debates with Hillary Clinton that he would meet unconditionally with the leaders of Iran, Cuba and North Korea.

3. Biden said, “Drill we must.” Biden has opposed offshore drilling in the Senate. He even referred to offshore drilling as the raping of the outer continental shelf.

4. Biden said that Obama and McCain voted the same against troop funding. Actually, John McCain only voted against the troop funding bill that included a timetable for withdrawal that President Bush said he would veto.

5. Biden said he has always supported clean coal. He has voted against clean coal technology and said just a week ago, “no coal in the U.S.”

6. Biden said McCain’s health Insurance plan will raise taxes. Actually, fact checkers say that both McCain’s and Obama’s tax and healthcare plans will save the same amount for taxpayers earning less than $161,000.

7. Biden said Palin supported a windfall profits tax as Governor of Alaska. Actually, she did reform taxes on energy companies but never proposed a windfall profits tax.

8. Biden said that the military commander in Afghanistan said a troop surge like that used in Iraq would not work in Afghanistan. Actually, the commander in Afghanistan, General David McKiernan said there were principals of the surge that could work in Afghanistan.

9. Biden said McCain wanted deregulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Actually, Senator McCain proposed legislation in 2005 to fix problems with Freddie and Fannie and add regulation that was killed in the Senate by Democrats.

10. Biden said McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq.” Actually, both Biden and McCain voted to authorize the war but only McCain advocated for and suggested the troop surge and change in tactics that is winning the war for us.

12. Biden said that under Obama taxpayers won’t pay any more in taxes than they did under Regan. Actually the top tax rate under Regan was 28% and is currently 35% under Bush. Under Obama the top tax rate would increase to over 39% plus another 10% for FICA for taxpayers earning more than $250,000. That’s 49% under Obama not 28%.

It just seems Senator Joe Biden has a poor command of his facts. He spits them out like he should know them but somehow he has them all jumbled up in his mind. I don’t think we would feel very secure with a man who is so confused in the White House.

Here are a few more of the good Senator’s loony statements.
