I don't care what niche you operate in. In this day and age you need a strong personal brand in order to be successful.

When I look back on the things that helped make me successful, personal branding is easily at the top of this list and has been for several years.

If I only knew when I started my journey the things that I know now I would be 10 times further ahead. That's what I want to help you with.

I thought they would laugh at me but instead they applauded.

The reaction from my friends, family and business colleagues had me preparing for the worst. When I began my personal branding journey, I knew they would be the first people to see my efforts thanks to social media.

I was not prepared for the overwhelming support I got from this group. To be honest I expected to get teased.

It turns out that more people wish they were doing what I'm doing and saw it as leadership not me being goofy. It's important to understand this before you start. You're not going to get the level of criticism you think you will.

When you build your brand, people treat you differently.

When I go to trade shows, events, meet ups or seminars people often know my name. That's because I've done a good job branding myself. They make a point of approaching me because they recognize me from my images and videos.

Going to events by yourself can be intimidating. But when people know who you are, it's easy to make friends and blend in socially. Let's face it, if our social skills were awesome we wouldn't strive to work behind a screen every day.

They will think you have the secret. But you will have a blueprint for Branding yourself.
