The British Army’s new Multi Terrain Pattern Camouflage
A video showing various pictures of the British Army's new Multi - Terrain Pattern Camouflage. Also there are pictures of the British Army's new and improved SA80 assault rifle and Mk. 7 Combat Helmet. Found this article about SUSAT being replaced by ACOG. "The UK armed forces' L85A2 (SA80A2) assault rifle is to undergo another transformation as the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) starts negotiations to replace the L9A1 weapon sight. The UK MoD's Future Infantry Soldier Technology (FIST) programme office wants an "improved and lighter" system to replace the United Scientific Instruments L9A1 Sight Unit Small Arms Trilux (SUSAT), currently in use with the SA80A2. Industry sources said the UK MoD favours the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) TA31RCO 4 x 32 sight, produced by US aiming systems specialist Trijicon. The deal could have a potential value of up to GBP200 million (USD357.8 million). In 2000, the SUSAT was exempt from arms specialist Heckler & Koch's (H&K's) GBP92 million revamp of the SA80. The UK MoD contracted H&K to modify some 200000 SA80 assault rifles and L86 Light Support weapons, with improvements including a new hammer, cocking handle, gas plug and firing pin. Monthly deliveries to the UK MoD of 4000 SA80A2s started in December 2001 and the contract is due for completion 2006. Trijicon's Military Division manager, Shaun Rategan, said: "We cannot comment on quantities or type. The FIST programme has tested and evaluated our ACOG and conveyed an ...

i dunno about u disassociated people, but im in the USAF and i drank like crazy with some Brits, and we had a blast together. we were actually laughing at civilians that always dogged what country was better, because they dont serve so they? dont know our friendship. For those in the military that degrade our British ally, well that lets me know u truly never deployed and worked with the British. Were a bad ass alliance
LOL! Can't be bothered to read all the comments but I love the jingoistic insults!!
Britain was once the most mightly of armed powers but not any more. America now has that status althoug China is creeping up fast. The Harrier was a British design. The 2nd generation (AV8B I think) was developed with the substantial help of Macdonald Douglas. SA80 A2 is an good weapon but complaints still abound as to the lack of power of the 5.56mm round. Hence the? limited issue of 7.62mm semi-autos.
@TheNinjaGinger
Yeah...except for it doesn't. It fires the same 5.56X45 NATO round that the M4 fires, and only has a 60m/s higher velocity than the M4, which? when one is 880 and the other is 940, doesn't really matter.
@NAVMAR16 Actually he was in the US at a firing range being trained by British pilots on a field trip kind of lesson. Maybe you haven't noticed but no? part of the british military is trained by the US. On the other hand the US does have many programs where the British train Americans, for example the perisher course. The only time Britain learns from americans is on exchange of tactics days... like red flag, and the itme the EF beat the F22 8-2.
@NAVMAR16? Haha! I actually agree with you on this one
@oeyesea? Canada, stay out of this fight. Your military has NOTHING over the American or British Military. Thats one thing we Americans and British can agree on. FYI I dont know where you got your info to read but it was so very wrong!!!
@killeeno2006 So you did give us the basic design for it so we can massively MODIFY an IMPROVE it. And that's what happened when the American company McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) got a hold of it. Still to this day you get MOST if not ALL your military training from American Military. That's why YOUR PRINCE HARRY is in Arizona, USA being trained by? AMERICAN MILITARY PILOTS TO FLY THE AMERICAN APACHE CHOPPER witch you got from AMERICA along with most of your MILITARY RESOURCES!
Thats so funny when it comes to you britts. You all still cant stand that AMERICA is the better country with the most POWERFUL MILITARY IN THE WORLD! Thats why when your government needs help they are always comming to us to help? them with EVERYTHING! Thats why YOUR QUEEN AND YOUR PRINCE AND HIS NEW BRIDE CAME TO AMERICA TO ASK FOR HELP! Your PRINCE HARRY is in Arizona, United States To be trained by American MILITARY pilots to fly the American chopper the APACHE!!
If what I read was correct then neither the Americans or British developed the camo pattern, it was the CANADIANS. As for the SA80A2 being superior than the M4, you'd have to qualify your opinion a bit more. L85 is good at maintaining the ballistic characteristics of a true rifle while being a compact size. The M4 is good because of its? efficient ergonomics. Personally, I'd take either one but would lean toward an M4 because I'm more familiar with ARs. @200-300m you'd kill an AK47 b4 he got you
@NAVMAR16 Yeah that? harrier you guys use, thats 'American' aswell isn't?
@NAVMAR16 Ermm no, you copied us bud. This is basically our standard DPM pattern but with new colours? and another pattern on top.
@colton12344321 Nope, they are on the right way. The higher rim at the front (I hope thats what you were thinking of) is so a soldier can look through his sight easier. Our older helmets were real crap because when you went into a prone or crouching position, the back? of the helmet would hit your armour. This meant that the front got pushed down over your eyes, meaning you couldnt look through your sight obviously. These are much tougher and more compact. Oh yeah nice quick reloads by the way
it looks like? they are wearing their helmets backwards
@gooneyboy89 Because the magazine is? behind the trigger which gives it a longer barrel and more kinetic energy than a M4.
@TheNinjaGinger? How?
it looks more? like a millita camo. lol
@NAVMAR16 it's NATO look it up fat yank!
?
@NAVMAR16 haha!! lol you're a funny person. thanks! I haven't heard a good joke in a? while!
@NAVMAR16 Next time get you? facts right.
@ThePumafootball the brits went to a american company before the us army did so no one stole anything both have similar but still different variants?
WWII was a team effort. ? 'Nuff said.
