I don’t know about you but I’m really getting tired of the stupidity of Congress. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats leading our legislative branch of government have decided we don’t need oil any more. The Democrats want to proceed straight to the next energy technology and the way they are going to do it is to starve America of oil and force the price higher. Their logic is that even higher prices will stimulate industry and consumers to switch to alternative fuels and build massive solar, wind and bio-fuel complexes. We will then make the switch to electric cars, trucks, buses, trains, etc., etc., etc.

“CHANGE We Can Believe In” cries the Obama mantra. Wouldn’t the world be wonderful if we could just elect the right President; a peaceful understanding President and give him a Congress that supports his every move for the CHANGE he expounds? We could solve the terrorist problem. We could cure the world of hatred. Our energy problems and health care problems would melt away and, oh, life would be so sweet! What a wonderful dream Obama would have the voters believe he would bring!

Many in Congress (mostly Democrats) would have us believe it is the oil companies and speculators driving up prices unreasonably. The truth is with China, India and other developing countries demanding more oil and gasoline world supplies are fast approaching the limit where demand is outstripping supply. When that happens, prices tend to move higher.

According to an article at FT.com Abdalla El-Badri, the secretary-general of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries says that the OPEC cartel is considering cutting investment in oil production as a result of attempts to bring bio-fuels online in the U.S. and other oil consuming countries.
How ironic that middle eastern countries who have already transferred a great amount of wealth from the United States to themselves through oil feel they can threaten oil consuming countries. They have us in a strangle hold and they’re not afraid to squeeze us harder.

The United States Congress regularly makes me so angry because they can’t come together to agree on the simplest of good legislation. To get anything passed that benefits us, the public, favors have to be exchanged, irrelevant pork having noting to do with a bill has to be added and on and on.

Congressman Murtha’s call for a withdraw from Iraq is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Murtha has a distinguished record as a former Marine and supporter of our military so how does this man justify turning tail in the middle of the war on terror? Does he believe the terrorists will leave us alone if we just pull out of Iraq? Would he rather the battle be engaged in New York or California or maybe Washington instead of Iraq and Afghanistan?
