Kenya’s oil industry is up in arms over the operations of a welding facility in Nairobi’s industrial area which some in the sector have termed as a disaster in waiting. Citizen TV has established that the operation of the business which industry stakeholders say could spark a fire at neighbouring oil and liquefied petroleum gas storage facilities endangers lives in an area still reeling from the effects of last year’s Sinai slum fire which killed at least 119 people. Sally Mbilu reports on a potential hazard that has not been dealt with by authorities for over two years now despite pleas from the petroleum institute of East Africa among others.
