Fashion and leather products earn Thailand vast export value each year and also see promising outlook as well as hotel and spas in southern Thailand. What has been done and what is still to be done to improve and stimulate the industry? Our special report today takes a close look of the efforts to promote such industries. It’s been the second year for the extravaganza of Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair 2011 held during April 20-25 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok . The event not only showcased a variety of fashion collections such as Spring Summer 2012 Fashion from famous designers and young-star designers from around ASEAN as well as a complete range of textiles, apparels, leather shoes and bag, but also provided an opportunity for young Thai fashion designers to display their work of art. According to the Export Promotion Department’s figures, last year Thailand earned 7677 million US dollars from exports of textile & fashion. That’s an increase of 19.18% from 2009. Meanwhile the export value of travel sets, leather and foot ware was reported at 1595 million US dollars, up 12.11 % from 2009. The Director of regional Export Promotion Office in Surathani Raweephan Changyencham pointed out that the value exceeded a target set by the department.
