Tania Dimitrova, a New York-based healthcare industry expert and investment analyst, discusses the major developments and trends she sees in the healthcare industry. The exclusive interview was conducted at VALUEx Zurich/Klosters 2012. Tania was born and raised in sunny and culturally diverse Southeastern Bulgaria, in a small village on the bank of the Maritza River, just a few kilometers north of Greece and Turkey. At age 13, she left her hometown to attend the Mathematics and Natural Sciences high school in Haskovo, one of the larger Southern Bulgarian cities. During her senior year in high school, Tania wrote letters to 25 American universities asking for fee waivers, and prepared for the application process and exams with outdated Barron’s catalogs she checked out from the library. Her efforts paid off and, upon graduating high school, Tania was awarded a full scholarship to attend Cottey Junior College, a 2-year private institution in Nevada, Missouri. From there, repeating the 25-college application process, she earned a full transfer scholarship to Mount Holyoke College, a top liberal arts college in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Mathematics and a certificate in International Relations two years later. Post college, Tania spent three and a half years at Credit Suisse Investment Banking in New York as an equity research associate covering the US specialty pharmaceuticals and generics markets. In
